diamond wedding band?
ive seen a wedding band with diamonds the whole way around. its 9ct white gold which i believe is more hard wearing than 18ct. however does anyone know how diamonds and wedding bands wear with time. its only £150 so if it needed replacing in 10-15 years i could cope!!
The norm for a wedding ring is plain gold. That’s what makes it special. These literally last a lifetime of normal wear. If you have 22ct gold and it’s thin to start with then it will show noticeable wear after a decade or two. Gold can also distort on fingers so if you look at an elderly lady’s wedding ring you may see that it’s not perfectly round.
Diamonds don’t wear out at all, ever. The worst that could happen would be if you clouted the ring quite hard and dislodged one so that it fell out. Ask the jeweller how much accidental damage insurance would be.
9 carat gold and diamonds go very well together. Normally rings with stones all the way around are “channel set”. The tops of the diamonds are almost flush with each other and the sides of the metal ring and the surface is fairly smooth to run your finger tip over. and there is no reason to suppose that you will suffer loss of any stones.
